Biography
Title: Associate Professor in Residence, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences School of Medicine, University of California San Francisco Bio: I am a psychiatrist and neuroscientist dedicated to developing and testing novel pharmacological treatments for individuals with mental illness. My research spans basic, translational, and clinical domains, with a focus on understanding the psychological, physiological, and neural effects of emerging therapeutic compounds. While my earlier work explored the role of oxytocin in mental health, my current research centers on psychoplastogens and related compounds in the treatment of psychiatric conditions such as depression, PTSD, and substance use disorders. My team has designed and implemented multiple clinical trials, including studies of MDMA-, psilocybin-, and psilocin-assisted therapies across diverse populations. We are also actively engaged in addressing key challenges in psychedelic science, with a particular emphasis on improving clinical trial design to ensure rigorous and ethical evaluation of these novel interventions.
